Paper Talk: Suarez staying, bottoms up

WORLD Cup fever hits new heights with a WAG’s crazy paint job, a cheeky title celebration and Suarez says he’s staying. This is Paper Talk.

PIMP MY RIDE

WORLD Cup fever is taking over, but the wife of Arsenal and France defender Bacary Sagna might have taken things a little too far.

French model Ludivine Kadri has got her Lamborghini supercar kitted with a totally insane, and rather ostentatious, World Cup paint job.

Sagna, as well as Mesut Ozil and Lionel Messi feature on one side of the car, while the other has images of Cristiano Ronaldo, Luis Suarez, Wesley Sneijder, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Jack Wilshere.

The design was done by Yiannimize, who wrap several celebrity cars - including John Terry, Olivier Giroud and Kevin Pietersen.

Not our cup of tea, but you’ve got to admire her dedication.

BOTTOMS UP!

Talk about celebrating in style.

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Conor Devlin took to Twitter to share with fans his joy at winning the Northern Irish league title with Cliftonville

The bearded 22-year-old uploaded a snap of himself in a hot tub, alongside the trophy and a bikini-clad blonde bombshell.

His caption was a simple: “Enjoying success”.

SUAREZ STAYING

Luis Suarez is ignoring interest from Real Madrid and has pledged his future to Liverpool, insisting “nothing is going to happen” regarding a transfer this summer.

The 27-year-old Uruguay international, who was strongly linked with a move away from Anfield last summer after the Reds missed out on the UEFA Champions League, has been in stunning form this season.

Liverpool currently leads the Premier League with two games remaining and are already guaranteed a place in next season’s premier European competition.

Speaking to Uruguayan TV channel Canal 10, the PFA Player of the Year said: “Don’t worry, nothing is going to happen to me. I’m very happy here and my family is happy here.

“If we could win the Premier League and bring the trophy home it would be incredible, a dream come true.”

WORLD’S FASTEST PLAYER

There’s a player in world football faster than Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, but you’ve probably never heard of him.

Wearing a GPS device, West Ham youngster Matthias Fanimo has recorded a top speed equal to Antonio Valencia – who is regarded as the quickest player on the planet.

He’s got the confidence to go with his pace, tweeting a photo of the speed records and his top standing.

PLAYERS WILL WANT TO ‘KILL’ VAN GAAL

Dutch manager Louis van Gaal is on the verge of joining Manchester United and he’s not there to make friends.

Manchester City chief executive Ferran Soriano has claimed the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss’ confrontational style might not go down well with the dressing room.

It might just be mind games against their crosstown rivals, but Soriano says he wouldn’t be surprised to see fireworks at Old Trafford next season.

“If you treat your people badly, they remember. One day you make an error and they kill you. I’ve seen this in many clubs,” Soriano said.

“Louis van Gaal has been a very good coach in many clubs but his style is very difficult. The same thing happened to him in Barcelona as in Bayern Munich.

“He is very tough, people don’t like him, but he wins. And one day you don’t win — and when you don’t win, everybody that is angry with you will come back to you and try to kill you.

“In the movies this works, in real life it doesn’t.”

WHAT IS QPR DOING WRONG?

Queens Park Rangers might be plying their trade in the English second tier while Atletico Madrid is on the verge of an unlikely double, but you wouldn’t guess that looking at their respective wage bills.

Financial research by the Guardian found that QPR’s outlay on wages last season was a $142 million as it battled – in vain – to avoid relegation. Compare that to Atleti’s $98m and you can see just how much of an achievement it’s been for Diego Simeone’s side to get in the Champions League final and lead La Liga with just a few weeks remaining.
