Charleston, SC – Shooting reported in downtown Charleston. Reports of 8 fatalities at this time by EMS units on scene. Multiple Charleston County EMS units and City of Charleston Fire Departments units were requested to the scene. Incident is reported at the AME Emanuel Church. The Medical University of South Carolina has been notified that no other patients t be transported. The Coroner has been requested to the scene.

2219 hrs: UPDATE: PD command post established, PD reporting suspect is still on the loose. Helicopter in the air with grid search being conducted. All K9 units req to the area per PD command. 0055 hrs: UPDATE: In a press conference Charleston Police Chief Greg Mullen confirmed 8 people were deceased inside the church and an additional person has passed away at the hospital.
