The chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court today issued an administrative order declaring probate courts have a duty to not issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
Limestone County and Morgan County were still issuing marriage licenses to all couples this afternoon, while Lawrence County had stopped issuing licenses to both same-sex and opposite-sex couples.
