One year since Detroit emerged from bankruptcy, city now has $35-million surplus

DETROIT (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Wednesday marks one year since Detroit emerged from bankruptcy.

And in that year the city has managed to gain a $35-million surplus for the fiscal year that began July 1st.

So far the city has met all targets it agreed to meet under its bankruptcy deal, including a four-year financial plan.

The city submitted its first balanced budget in more than a decade earlier this year.
