Muslim Group Prepares Christmas Meals for Homeless

SACRAMENTO--

In the Loaves and Fishes kitchen, a group of Muslims prepared Christmas Eve meals for the less fortunate on Thursday.

Our community personally doesn't celebrate Christmas, but we feel like just because we don't, doesn't mean others shouldn't get a good meal on Christmas," volunteer Faizah Saif told FOX40.

Muslims just celebrated Ramadan, a holy month of fasting.

"When you feel hunger, you automatically understand the giving part of it and not being able to watch somebody go hungry," Dr. Firdos Sheikh, of the American Muslim Voice Foundation, said Thursday morning.

Dr. Sheikh says she and her volunteers are feeding a thousand people, but wants to do more for the hungry.

"We are blessed," she said. "Let's give some more."
