NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — New York City as of Monday had gone more than a full week without a homicide reported to police anywhere in the five boroughs.
The last time the NYPD was notified of a homicide was Sunday, Feb. 1, when Shadale Graham, 28, was shot and killed at 136th Street in Broadway in Hamilton Heights, 1010 WINS reported. A 24-year-old man was also shot in the right arm and ankle in that incident, and a 22-year-old man was shot in the torso and leg, police said.
But police said the recent streak does not factor in assault victims who could be reclassified as homicide cases if they die.
In February of last year, the city went 10 straight days without a homicide, 1010 WINS reported.
But as of Feb. 1, homicides were up 18 percent citywide compared with the same time last year, according to a New York Daily News report.
