Man hit in face by brick 'which rebounded after he threw it at charity shop window'

A man is being treated in hospital after allegedly throwing a brick at a charity office window which rebounded and hit him on the head.

Several windows were smashed in the late-night attack on the Belfast offices of Public Initiative For Prevention of Suicide and Self Harm (PIPS) on Wednesday.

Police responded to a report of a man breaking windows at the Antrim Road property at 8.25pm.

A man, who is in his 40s, was arrested on the scene and is being treated in hospital for a head injury, the Belfast Telegraph reported.

Police are continuing their enquiries into the vandalism.

There were a number of people in the property at the time but none were injured.

After the incident PIPS posted on Facebook: "Folks we need some help, Would anyone be available this evening to replace glass and secure our Antrim Road office.

"Due to an incident this evening we have had several windows smashed . Thank you!"

PIPS reopened the next day - albeit with boarded up windows.
