A university moved to fire a professor after he defended a student’s right to debate gay marriage. Now he’s suing.

This article is really one-sided.

The professor has been attacking other professors for years for their "left wing agenda" and no one blinked an eye because that's just comes with the job of being a professor.

It was only when he attacked a graduate student on his blog and on right wing radio that he got into trouble. The issue is not if the graduate student handled the class correctly (which is quite possible), the issue is: is it okay for a Marquette professor make a public attack on a Marquette student. Something that he continues to do to both the graduate student and to other students even though he knows this is going to lead to harassment and threats of violence against them.

Professor McAdam has a legal and ethical obligation to protect students from just the sort of attacks that he has been actually encouraging.

Edit: Here a link to a description of what happened in the class and has more of what might be called her side of the story.
