Curt Schilling suspended by ESPN after tweet comparing Muslims to Nazis: “It’s said only 5-10% of Muslims are extremists. In 1940, only 7% of Germans were Nazis. How’d that go?”

ESPN suspended Curt Schilling on Tuesday after the former All-Star pitcher, who is currently a baseball analyst for the network, posted a meme on Twitter that compared Muslims to Nazis.

The tweet, which was deleted by Schilling within minutes, contained a picture of Hitler that stated, "It's said only 5-10% of Muslims are extremists. In 1940, only 7% of Germans were Nazis. How'd that go?" Schilling also wrote: "The math is staggering when you get to true #'s."

"Curt's tweet was completely unacceptable, and in no way represents our company's perspective," said ESPN in a statement. "We made that point very strongly to Curt and have removed him from his current Little League assignment pending further consideration." Schilling also serves as an analyst for the network's Sunday Night Baseball.

When the deleted tweet went viral and drew outrage, Schilling responded to several people with apologies before tweeting out this statement: "I understand and accept my suspension. 100% my fault. Bad choices have bad consequences and this was a bad decision in every way on my part."
